(The Star) – Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar has cautioned the public over an article by Sarawak Report.

“Reports like this, which do not originate from a verified source, will only confuse the public. @PDRMsia calls for a stop to the spreading of such rumours,” he said in a tweet on Thursday, sharing a screenshot of an article by Sarawak Report, “Arrest warrant for the Prime Minister”.

The website alleged in its latest report that Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail was sacked as Attorney-General on Tuesday because he wanted to take action against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Meanwhile, the Attorney-General’s Department prosecution division head Datuk Tun Abdul Majid Hamzah said in a tweet to Bernama: “The charge sheet published by Sarawak Report was not drafted or issued by the Attorney-General’s Department. Please be informed.”

Abdul Majid’s explanation was subsequently retweeted by Khalid to reinforce the IGP’s dismissal of the article by Sarawak Report.

Last week, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission had blocked Sarawak Report website.
