(Malaysiakini) – “These enemies of the state … are trying to suppress the truth through threats and intimidation”

A wide range of Malaysians are throwing their support behind the embattled Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to continue probing the RM 2.6 billion donation to the prime minister’s private bank accounts.

The latest to side with the anti-graft body is Malay pressure group Perkasa, who issued a statement to question the ‘hidden hands’ which it said are the mastermind behind the raids and arrests of MACC officers who are probing the case.

Perkasa observation and integrity bureau secretary Azrul Akmal Sharudin said the NGO demands that the ‘hidden hands’ be revealed and branded enemies of the state, even if they hold high positions in the government.

“These enemies of the state need to be fought off using people power and be taught a lesson under the law, because they are trying to suppress the truth through threats and intimidation of MACC officers, so the investigators can be cowed into putting a halt to their work,” he said.
