Awang Selamat says DAP is a wolf in sheep’s clothing and registers surprise at MACC officers’ willingness to hold a dialogue with them.

(Free Malaysia Today) – Politicians in DAP are wolves in sheep’s clothing who have gone from despising the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to defending their honour, said Utusan Malaysia’s Awang Selamat.

In an editorial appearing this morning, Awang, the pseudonym for the Umno-owned daily’s senior editors, noted, “All this while, DAP has insulted and vilified MACC particularly in regard to the death in custody of Teoh Beng Hock, but now are defending them.”

It said this after media reports that DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and others from the Opposition coalition including newly set up Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB), paid a visit to MACC headquarters on Thursday to show their support for the anti-corruption agency after police raided their office and confiscated documents pertaining to their investigations apart from arresting some of its officers.

Awang said it was clear DAP’s current show of support stemmed from the fact that Prime Minister Najib Razak was being investigated over the RM2.6 billion found in his personal bank accounts just before the 2013 general elections.

“Only because MACC is investigating the prime minister, has DAP unashamedly become cordial with MACC while inadvertently showing off that they are merely wolves in sheep’s clothing,” Awang said while “smiling” at Kit Siang’s picture at the MACC office in Putrajaya.

Awang did however register surprise at MACC’s willingness to hold a dialogue with DAP and other Opposition leaders.

“It’s as if there was something not right with the officer and it has left his actions open to interpretation including seeing it as an attempt to ‘play politics’.”
