‘Changing the PM is not the business of West Malaysians alone.’

(Free Malaysia Today) – Barisan Nasional strategist Abdul Rahman Dahlan has alleged that those calling for Prime Minister Najib Razak’s resignation are ignoring the feelings of people in Sabah and Sarawak.

“Has anyone asked our opinion?” he said during a press conference today. Rahman is the MP for Kota Belud in Sabah. He serves the Cabinet as Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister.

He indicated that the Barisan Nasional parties in the East Malaysian states would be against Najib’s ouster.

“Changing the Prime Minister is not just the business of people in the peninsula, but it is Sabah’s and Sarawak’s business as well,” he said.

“Mind you, we are the backbone of Barisan Nasional.

“I hope, when making a major decision like this, the views of people in Sabah and Sarawak will be taken into consideration as well.”

Talk about Najib’s alleged unsuitability for the Prime Minister’s position has gained traction since he took dramatic actions seen as attempts to silence critics and to prevent full disclosure of his alleged role in the 1MDB scandal and the circumstances surrounding the deposit of RM2.6 billion in his personal bank accounts. The talk has spread into Umno.

Before the press conference, Rahman gave a speech in which he lent support to a proposal to effectively tighten Internet laws.
