If Najib is wrong, remove him, Muhyiddin tells Umno members
(The Malaysian Insider) – Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has urged party members to remove Datuk Seri Najib Razak as president if he had committed any wrongdoing in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.
The former deputy prime minister, sacked from the Cabinet over his criticism of the debt-ridden state firm, said the party’s grassroots were like shareholders of a company.
“If you wake up one morning and you find the CEO raked up billions of ringgit in debt, what do you do?” he asked delegates at the Semporna Umno division meeting today.
“You sack him. Why? Because such a debt will be a burden to you,” he said.
“If I have a CEO raking up billions in losses, I would sack him,” Muhyiddin said on the losses by 1MDB within six years of its inception.
“We cannot keep quiet because it would be a burden to us.”
