Ku Li confirms meeting Dr Mahathir amid unity government claim
(The Malaysian Insider) – Former finance minister Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah today confirmed meeting with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad recently, amid rumours that the two were planning to remove Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and form a unity government.
Tengku Razaleigh said former prime minister Dr Mahathir, who was one of Najib’s critics within Umno, had summoned him for a meeting.
“I recently met Dr Mahathir, he invited me. I meet everyone,” he told reporters at a Hari Raya open house in Bukit Jalil.
But Tengku Razaleigh, also known as Ku Li, refused to divulge the details of the meeting, saying it was personal.
“I don’t want to interfere too much. We want everything to be calm, the situation to be good, and to avoid any confusion among the public while the economy is having problems.
“We shouldn’t add any more problems to the people,” he said.
He said he had also met Najib twice before Hari Raya.
“He invited me to give my views, my advice, and I gave my advice to him. I don’t think I need to tell you (what we discussed).”
