The RPK and the Banker
It must have been a brave decision to engage the services of Malaysia’s foremost political blogger, something that required an unorthodox person to execute, but right now RPK is the biggest online asset for the Najibs.
Spin Kings
You have to hand it to Raja Petra Kamarudin for being able to come back from the “dead” to make into the inner circle of the Prime Minister’s advisers.
It was only 6 years ago when RPK was Public Enemy Number One (PENO) as far as Najib-Rosmah was concerned. He made a Statutory Declaration stating that he had been reliably informed that Datin Seri Rosmah was present during the murder of Altantuya Sharibu. He was arrested on the Sedition Act, caged behind bars, released from custody pending a formal charge and mysteriously escaped to the UK where he tried to rebuild his life in the restaurant business.
In fact, so angry was Datin Seri Rosmah at RPK’s escape, that it was rumoured that this had led to the termination of Tan Sri Musa Hassan’s services as Inspector General of Police.
However, from being worse than a Voldermot to the Najibs, he is now very much part of their spin PR team. It must have been a brave decision to engage the services of Malaysia’s foremost political blogger, something that required an unorthodox person to execute, but right now RPK is the biggest online asset for the Najibs.
He has the inside “stories” about the various machinations, movements and counter moves to remove Najib, as he taunts and mocks Najib’s enemies on their failure to oust the 1MDB Chairman from his perch.
Here are some of the bold predictions he has got right
1. On May-31, 2015 RPK broke the story of the challenge Najib issued to his cabinet to those who were not with him on 1MDB, to resign. (Link over here). This was later confirmed by several Cabinet ministers. The KLSE closed at 1,743 on 01 June and Dollar: RM at 3.6839 on the same day
Khairun has great influence over Najib and the Chief Secretary, Ali Hamsa |
2. On Jun 07, 2015, RPK broke the story of why the PM’s strongest influencer, Datuk Khairun Aseh, had advised the PM to cop out of the “Nothing to hide” talk that was held several days back. No doubt, RPK was engaged in a “damage limitation” spin exercise at that point. Link over here. In this article, RPK basically betrays the fact that the PM’s advisers view Khaiy Jamaluddin with extreme suspicion and consider Pemuda UMNO to be the enemy.
KLSE closed at 1,736.07 on June 8th, and Dollar : RM at 3.7526.
3. On July 07, 2015, RPK breaks the story of an impending move to be launched against Najib in an article entitled “MALAYSIA’S FIRST COUP D’ÉTAT“. RPK later reveals that the movement consists of 6 Tan Sri’s, presumably the 4 heads of the enforcement agencies, Tan Sri Muhiyiddin Yassin and a Tan Sri who used to be on the Board of Advisers of the MACC.
This was the day when the task force issued a statement that was signed by all 4 members, which was related to a freeze order being placed on several bank accounts linked to investigations into the illicit movement of funds into the banking accounts of the Prime Minister / 1MDB Chairman.
This story is extremely important because RPK is trying to cover the fact all the while one of the task force members was not actually interested in uncovering the truth surrounding 1MDB but in covering the perpetrator of these crimes. Around this time, Claire Rewcastle Brown is put under surveillance and images and pictures of who she meets are being forwarded to RPK for “name and shame” antics.
In this regard, RPK actually makes a mistake. He confuses the resoluteness of the MACC, the AG chambers and the BNM in investigating the case with that of a party playing politics. MACC approached this task because brave men in the office decided that it was time to take action out of a patriotic duty to save the Country.
KLSE closed at 1,712.3 and Dollar:RM at RM 3.8172
(Note: The next day RPK says that a counter coup was on the way)
4. On July 15, 2015, RPK breaks the story of Tun Musa Hitam talking about the reasons for Tun Dr Mahathir move against the PM over here. RPK spins Tun Musa’s statement as saying that it confirms that Dr Mahathir’s attempt to remove the Prime Minister (he calls it a “coup”, others call it enforcing the law) has nothing to do with the allegations surrounding 1MDB but more to do with Najib’s refusal to accede to Tun Dr Mahathir.
Now here is the interesting part of this entire machination.
Why Tun Musa? This guy does not hold any real legitimate power at all. He has no position in UMNO and can’t even control his one time protege who recently bought some Najib sponsodered 4 + 2D and struck 2nd prize of RM 1 million. (A budding chef, pretending to be a Deputy Minister, struck first prize of RM 2 million).
This question had got me stumped for a while.
But now I know.
