Former A-G officer in 1MDB probe faces deportation

(The Star) – The legal officer involved in the probe into 1Malaysia Development Bhd, whose services were terminated by the Attorney-General’s Chambers last week, is now faced with a deportation order.

Jessica Gurmeet Kaur, a Singaporean, had her permanent residence status revoked and officers, presumably from the Immigration department, were on Thursday looking to serve the deportation order on her.

Jessica was arrested on Aug 1 along with former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission adviser, Tan Sri Rashpal Singh (pic), in connection with leaks in the 1MDB probe. They were later released on bail after police recorded their statements.

It is learnt that Jessica’s bail was also revoked last week.

It is learnt that several officers had been waiting outside Jessica’s condominium in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur on Thursday. She was, however, not at home.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar was quoted in a news portal as saying that it was not the police who would escort Jessica to the border.

A lawyer, who declined to be named, confirmed that Jessica’s service with the A-G was terminated last week but had no knowledge of the deportation order.
