SB man to expose brains behind 1MDB clampdown
Transferred deputy director tells of secret Hang Tuah Gang led by ‘Si Kitol’ behind disinformation
(Free Malaysia Today) – A secret Hang Tuah Gang is behind moves to suppress exposure of the controversial government investment arm 1Malaysia Development Bhd, according to Abdul Hamid Bador, the former deputy director of Special Branch and self-declared Mahathir loyalist.
Abdul Hamid vowed to expose the mastermind, whom he described as a “Si Kitol” a reference to the Malaccan insider who revealed the secrets of the port city to the invading Portuguese fleet in 1511, according to a news report.
“I will expose this Si Kitol’s name soon,” he told Malaysiakini, after being asked about a message circulated online announcing a purported press conference by him, supposedly on a police report he would make against Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his attempt to oust prime minister Najib Razak.
Abdul Hamid was ordered last week to report to the Prime Minister’s Department to take up new duties as deputy director of a unit on international security and transnational crime. His transfer has given rise to speculation about the reason for the move, coming soon after similar transfers of two senior anti-corruption officers (since rescinded) and others involved in the 1MDB investigation.
However, last week Abdul Hamid declared his loyalty to Dr Mahahir and said he would never betray “the servant of Allah who has done so much for the country”.
Dr Mahathir has been at the forefront of a relentless campaign for months, attempting to force Najib out of office because of the affairs of 1MDB. He has now called for a confidence motion against Najib in Parliament and is attempting to rally Barisan and opposition MPs to support the motion.
Abdul Hamid did not name those in the Hang Tuah Gang, whom he blamed for spreading the fake message about his press conference to expose Dr Mahathir. “I am sure it is those from the Hang Tuah team who is responsible for this disinformation, including the one known as Si Kitol,” he was quoted as telling Malaysiakini. “I will expose this Si Kitol’s name soon.”
