(MMO) – There is no point in Barisan Nasional (BN) trying to woo Chinese voters as the weekend’s Bersih 4 rally has shown that “majority of that race” is against the ruling coalition, Utusan Malaysia said today.

Senior news editor Zulkiflee Bakar wrote in his column today that since the 2008 election, the Chinese community’s support towards the BN has steadily waned and the community’s large turnout at the weekend’s rally was proof that they no longer supported the government.

“To BN, the illegal rally can be taken as a clear sign that any hopes the party has to garner support from the Chinese will not be attainable,” he wrote.

“We admit that not every Chinese are an opposition supporter but based on what has been happening,  it is proven that the majority of that race continue to distance themselves from BN.

“They believe more in DAP that is helped by PKR and GHB. That’s why, there is no need to work so hard to get their support,” Zulkiflee added.
