Zam: Dr.M knows Bersih 4 will push Malays again
Najib Abdul Razak’s supporters and Utusan Malaysia ignore the fact that Mahathir’s primary objective was to get the Prime Minister out.
(Free Malaysia Today) – A former Information Minister ventured that former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad may have his own “Hidden Agenda” in turning up at the Bersih 4 rallies during the weekend in Kuala Lumpur. “Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s supporters and Utusan Malaysia misinterpreted, whether deliberately or otherwise, Mahathir’s presence on the streets among the participants marshalled by the Bersih 2.0 movement.”
“Mahathir has his own ‘Hidden Agenda’ as otherwise he would not turn up at the rallies. What’s wrong with Mahathir turning up? There are people who think that he “akan bangsatkan diri sendiri” (become an outcast) by doing so.”
Zainuddin Maidin pointed out, that Hidden Agenda or No Hidden Agenda, Mahathir did explain his presence among the demonstrators. “He drew a distinction between Bersih 2.0, the organisers, and the people taking part in the rallies,” he added. “The former Prime Minister said that he was there to be with the people, not Bersih.”
“His objective was to support the people who were demanding that Najib step down as Prime Minister. Najib’s departure was also his objective.”
The former Prime Minister, pointed out Zainuddin who was at one time Editor-in-Chief of Utusan Malaysia, told the demonstrators that he only wants Najib out of the government but he called for the Barisan Nasional (BN) to continue to be the government in Putrajaya. “Obviously, Mahathir thinks that DAP is less dangerous than Najib,” he said. “Isn’t this what many Malays are also thinking? If Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali was wrong on the RM30b DEIG, what about Najib and his wife?”
“Mahathir wants Najib to go because he loves Umno. Najib must not underestimate the importance and impact of Mahathir’s presence on the streets and what the world will now think of him if he continues to be the Prime Minister.”
