Liow Tiong Lai

(Mkini) – Youth leaders were divided on the matter, with one faction supporting Chong’s remark, while another faction supported Liow who believes MCA should stand together with BN.

Some MCA grassroots leaders are unhappy with president Liow Tiong Lai for being too soft in voicing on behalf of the Chinese community.

These grassroots leaders are contemplating pressuring Liow to voice their grouses to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, in order to defend the party’s image that it represents the Chinese community.

According to Sin Chew Daily’s report, these leaders even suggested MCA quit BN.

The report said some division chairpersons from various states confirmed that grassroots are questioning Liow and some are unhappy with him for being too soft in the BN.

Some grassroots leaders are especially unhappy and disappointed regarding the party central leadership’s stand on Youth chief Chong Sin Woon’s recent remark on the Bersih 4 rally.

“Chong’s remark is based on the people’s rights to rally provided under the federal constitution, but now BN leaders keep condemning and have asked Chong to resign.

“Does this mean if BN wants to take away Chong’s deputy education minister post, we should also let it be?”

The report also said Youth leaders were divided on the matter, with one faction supporting Chong’s remark, while another faction supported Liow who believes MCA should stand together with BN.

However sources said they feel MCA shouldn’t quit BN, as it will face a tougher situation compared to now.
