Salleh: Is Anwar thinking straight?
(Free Malaysia Today) – “Pakatan Rakyat would have to choose between PAS and Amanah as its partner,” he said. “They cannot have both at the same time.”
Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak has questioned whether jailed opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has lost his grip on reality, referring to his statement about Parti Amanah Negara, which welcomed the new party into the opposition fold.
Anwar said in his statement: “The formation of a new opposition party (Parti Amanah Negara) committed to change and reform, augurs well for the mature politics of democratic accountability.
“Amanah will further strengthen the national opposition, together with PKR, PAS, DAP; and we will expand this cooperation to other committed non-governmental organisations which share our common objectives.”
In his blog entry today, Salleh said Anwar appeared to have ignored the DAP announcement that Pakatan Rakyat no longer existed.
He also said it would be impossible for Amanah to “join PKR, PAS and DAP” in an opposition coalition.
“Pakatan Rakyat would have to choose between PAS and Amanah as its partner,” he said. “They cannot have both at the same time. Either Anwar does not understand this or he thinks we are the ones who do not understand this.”
