Cops not discounting link between missing DPP and Ambank founder’s murder
(The Star) – Police will not discount the possibility of a link between the murder of Arab-Malaysian Development Bank founder Hussain Ahmad Najadi and the disappearance of DPP Kevin Morais.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim (pic) said police were investigating the case from all angles and urged the public not to speculate.
“We do not know whether there is a link, but we will definitely look into the possibility.
“Whatever we do, we have to base it on facts. We can’t just give statements as Kevin is still missing,” he said at a press conference on Tuesday.
Noor Rashid added that it was a serious case and police would go all out to determine the cause of the incident.
“We will be analysing all the closed-circuit television cameras along the road or any places which the victim could have gone.
“We are also checking with the Immigration Department if he has left the country,” he said.
A news portal reported on Tuesday that Morais might have knowledge regarding a meeting involving Najadi and his wife Chong Mei Kuen over a land deal at a temple in Lorong Cheylon on July 29, 2013.
When the two were leaving the premises, a lone gunman appeared and opened fire, killing Najadi.
The report also raised questioned if Najadi was the suspect’s original target, or whether it was the other individual he was reportedly meeting.
