Top priority is to bring Najib down, not if PAS in new PR
Opposition leader Wan Azizah says PAS president is entitled to his opinions as discussions about Pakatan Rakyat 2.0 are informal at this stage.
(Free Malaysia Today) – Pakatan Rakyat’s top priority at the moment is to push for a no confidence vote on Prime Minister Najib Razak and not whether PAS wishes to be a partner in any new political coalition being formed.
She said this to reporters during PKR’s peaceful walkabout in Low Yat plaza today when asked to respond to PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang saying that his Islamist party would not join Pakatan Rakyat 2.0.
“We are trying to look for a solution for the country, one of the solutions is to actually have a no confidence vote, and for that we need the numbers,” she said about the move to ensure Najib steps down as prime minister.
She also said that Hadi had the right to voice his opinion whatever it may be as discussions to form a new coalition were at the preliminary stage only.
“We haven’t formally formed the new coalition, so he (Hadi) has the right to say whatever.
“We have only had informal discussions at the moment, but the present goal is to bring down Najib,” she reiterated.
Yesterday, Hadi was quoted by Ismaweb as saying the new pact had a hidden agenda besides having no plans whatsoever to uphold Islam, the main agenda of PAS.
