PAC’s 1MDB proceedings leak not from Parliament staff, says Speaker
(Malay Mail Online) – Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia has denied that Parliament staff was behind the alleged leak of 1MDB information to the Wall Street Journal.
The Star reported Pandikar questioned how it was possible when the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was investigating the case.
“How can I probe and see? This is their business, the PAC…. How can it be from my parliament (staff)?” he said when asked if he would probe the leak as requested by former PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.
Nur Jazlan Mohamed had yesterday urged Pandikar Amin Mulia to initiate a probe on Parliament’s staff over the alleged leak of information on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) to the Wall Street Journal, saying it could not have originated from members of PAC. Nur Jazlan, who was formerly PAC chairman, said he was confident of this as none of the panel’s members would have had access to the official transcripts or the Hansard of the committee’s last meeting.
“The leak must have come from Parliament, from the staff. Parliament, the Speaker must launch an investigation immediately,” Nur Jazlan had told Malay Mail Online when contacted.
