Not everything the foreign media says is true, says Salleh
Minister says there is danger in falling hook, line and sinker for everything that Sarawak Report and The Wall Street Journal puts out regarding the PM.
(Free Malaysia Today) – Not every foreign news publication or blog should be believed absolutely and completely because not all the information put out about Prime Minister Najib Razak has been true, cautioned Salleh Said Keruak.
The Minister of Communications and Multimedia said it was the general perception of the Malaysian public that anything “foreign or imported” was better than anything “local grown” when the reverse was sometimes true.
“It was actually a very clever strategy by those who want to discredit Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak to turn to foreign publications to conduct their campaign.
“If the story came from overseas then it must be true because foreigners only dabble in the truth,” Salleh said in his latest blog entry, referring to The Wall Street Journal and whistleblower website The Sarawak Report that both published exposes on 1Malaysia Development Berhad that implicated the PM in financial wrongdoing.
He drew parallels with the war in Iraq and related how millions had been hoodwinked into believing that the Iraqi government was producing weapons of mass destruction “because the western media said so”.
