Najib to strike out suit on receiving RM2.6b
The striking out will be filed on the grounds of locus standi, presumably Umno Langkawi member Anina Saadudin being no longer a party member.
(Free Malaysia Today) – Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will apply to strike out a suit against him by sacked Umno Langkawi member Anina Saadudin for wrongful conduct in accepting a RM2.6 billion “donation” in his personal accounts at AmBank Islamic private banking services before the last General Election in 2013.
His lawyer Nor Emelia Iszeham confirmed this on Monday after case management.
“The two defendants (Najib and Umno secretary Ab Rauf Yusoh) will file the application by Tuesday,” she said, adding the striking out will be filed on the grounds of locus standi, presumably Anina being no longer a party member.
She added they will also be filling a stay against the proceedings at the same time.
During Monday’s case management, the Court ordered Najib to file his defence by October 1.
On the application by Anina seeking to freeze Najib’s asset, filed last Friday, as well as admission for judgment, the Court ordered the premier to file his Affidavit in Reply to both applications by October 6, according to Anina’s lawyer Haniff Khatri Abdulla.
The next case management will be set on October 26 before Judicial Commissioner Zaki Wahab.
