MCA: No action against ‘defiant child’ for cutting ties with Najib

(Mkini) – MCA will forgive its ‘defiant child’ – the Pasir Gudang Youth – which decided to cut ties with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, instead of taking disciplinary action against it.

The influential court of public opinion and pressure had prompted the division’s youth wing to act, said MCA secretary-general Ong Ka Chuan.

MCA will forgive the youth wing, which lacks in group consciousness and acts according to its own view, he said at a press conference, quoted by Sin Chew Daily.

“Despite Pasir Gudang MCA Youth taking a different stand and principle with the party, we allowed them the space to do so.

“We will not simply resort to disciplinary action; we treat them as though they are our own child,” he said.

The division’s wing doesn’t need to retract its remark as that would make it a mere formality, he said.

Pasir Gudang MCA Youth has severed ties with Najib, who is also the BN chairperson, after he described the ‘Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu’ on Sept 16, also known as the red shirt rally, as “peaceful” and thanked its participants.

The Sept 16 rally was organised by the National Silat Federation (Pesaka) to “defend Malay dignity” but was marred with racial epithets hurled against the Chinese community.

It was in retaliation for the predominantly-Chinese attendance at Bersih 4, which urged Najib’s resignation and saw two participants stomping on an image of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and PAS president Hadi Awang.

‘Jamal has breached the BN spirit’

Meanwhile, Sungai Besar MCA demanded an apology from Jamal Md Yunos (photo) over his ‘Cina babi’ (Chinese pig) remark.

If there is no apology, it will boycott all activities and meetings called by the Sungai Besar Umno chief, said Kek Seng Hooi, Jamal’s MCA counterpart.
