Wan Azizah relayed info about PSM, MPs say
Ong Kian Ming and Khalid Samad say they were merely relaying the information Wan Azizah gave them that PSM was opposed to Article 153 concerning Bumiputera rights.
(Free Malaysia Today) – The information that Parti Socialis Malaysia (PSM) was opposed to Article 153 of the Federal Constitution concerning the special position of the Malays and the Bumiputeras in Sabah and Sarawak was relayed by Opposition Leader Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Opposition parliamentarians Ong Kian Ming (DAP) and Khalid Samad (Amanah) said they were informed of this when they attended a meeting Wan Azizah called for on September 22, 2015 involving PKR, DAP, Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) and certain NGO leaders.
In a statement issued today, both MPs said, “The reason we were told at the meeting by PKR President and Opposition Leader, Dr Wan Azizah, on why PSM was not invited was because they were opposed to Article 153 in the Federal Constitution concerning the special position of the Malays and the Bumiputeras in Sabah and Sarawak.
“Our statement to the press was to inform them of what we were told at this meeting by Dr Wan Azizah,” they said when commenting on allegations by PSM central committee member S Arutchelvan that Ong and Khalid had made claims that were “mischievous, manipulative and utter nonsense”.
