(Bernama) – Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is still hoping that PAS will work with the new opposition pact Pakatan Harapan which will be made up of PKR, DAP and yet to be registered Parti Amanah Negara.

PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said differences in opinion between DAP and PAS was not something new as it was the case even before Pakatan’s predecessor Pakatan Rakyat was formed.

She said PKR would act as bridge between DAP and PAS to resolve their differences and hoped the two parties could work together as a team.

“We are also hoping PAS will join the new opposition pact based on the common policy framework agreed to before this to serve the people.

“The question of distribution of seats for the next general election is something that can be discussed when the time comes,” she told reporters after attending an Aidilfitri celebration organised by Permatang Pauh PKR’s women’s wing in Dataran Guar Perahu here today.

Wan Azizah, who is also Opposition leader, also denied that the setting up of Parti Amanah Negara by former PAS leaders would only aggravate the already poor relations between DAP and PAS.

On Monday, PAS vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah had reiterated the party’s stand that it would in no way work together with Parti Amanah Negara and DAP in any new opposition coalition.

Pakatan Rakyat had retained Selangor, Penang and Kelantan in the last general election but lost Kedah, which it had wrested from the Barisan Nasional for the first time in the state’s election history.
