Mahathir to Muhyiddin: Ignore insults, get Najib out
Ousted deputy ‘afraid’ of talk that he wants to become PM himself, says former premier
(Free Malaysia Today) – Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin has been urged to ignore insults and make it his priority to get Prime Minister Najib Razak, to step down.
Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad said this at a high-tea forum by the Umno branch in Pusat Bandar Taman Cempaka at a hotel in Ampang here today.
“The priority is that we want Najib to step down from being the prime minister. Whatever other people want to say, or insult him (Muhyiddin), that is secondary,” he said during the event.
Muhyiddin was dismissed from the Cabinet as deputy prime minister on July 28 after controversial remarks about the government investment arm 1Malaysia Development Bhd, and urging Najib to answer all allegations pertaining to him at a time when news reports revealed a reported US$700 million deposit in his personal bank accounts.
