Kadir Jasin is belittled for ‘having to sing a softer tune.’

(Free Malaysia Today) – The Young Journalists’ Club of Malaysia today disparaged veteran journalist A Kadir Jasin for lately “singing a much toned-down tune” in his criticism of Prime Minister Najib Razak.

“I think Kadir Jasin is becoming muter because of positive outcomes such as the reduction of a further 16 billion ringgit in 1MDB’s debts,” the club’s president, Dzulkarnain Taib, told FMT.

He was responding to Kadir’s suggestion that Najib be given safe passage to get him out of the Prime Minister’s chair and the Umno presidency. He described the statement as a lame attempt to place Najib in an unfavourable light.

It was reported recently that Najib had told investors in the US that 1MDB would sort out its financial issues before the year’s end and was expected to reduce its debts by RM16 billion soon.

Dzulkarnain said that he had noticed that many of Najib’s critics had mellowed down. He speculated that they had come to realise that the Prime Minister would fulfil his promise to resolve 1MDB-related issues in six months.
