(The Star) – Petaling Jaya Selatan MP Hee Loy Sian has the right to submit a motion in Parliament for a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. However, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said (pic) observed that there are a series of government motions and Bills to be tabled on Monday as well.

“Consideration of any motion is subject to Standing Order 15(1) which states that at every meeting, government motions are to be settled before others.

“Therefore, I hope issues relevant to this motion are not politicised, especially by those intending to confuse the rakyat,” the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said in a statement on Sunday.

Azalina, who is in charge of parliamentary affairs, said that while MPs had rights, they should be responsible in submitting any private motion so that it is not based on speculation and does not contravene the Standing Orders.

“We are confident that the Dewan Rakyat Speaker will give fair consideration to all the motions submitted for the day,” she said.
