PKR and DAP quarrel over no-faith vote

Guan Eng says Wan Azizah should submit the motion, but Tian Chua says it’s okay for any MP to do it

(Free Malaysia Today) – DAP and PKR are split on the question of who should submit a motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister Najib Razak.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng is insisting that Petaling Jaya Selatan MP Hee Loy Sian withdraw the motion he has submitted, saying the importance of the motion demanded that it be submitted by Opposition Leader Wan Azizah Ismail. (Hee is a PKR member.)

“If you want to remove a prime minister, it should not be done by an ordinary MP,” Lim said as he spoke to reporters this morning.

However, PKR vice-president Tian Chua disagreed, saying there was nothing wrong with allowing Hee to submit the motion. “He had every right to do it,” he said.

According to Malaysiakini, Hee has also defended his action but said he would obey Wan Azizah, who is PKR President, if she told him to withdraw the motion.

But Lim claimed that Hee had agreed when told that he had acted inappropriately.

Lim claimed that in other democratic countries, it would be the opposition leader who would submit a motion of such importance.
