Khalid won’t support no-confidence motion against Najib
(The Rakyat Post) – Former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim will not support the no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
According to Khalid, it was better for parliamentarians to debate issues regarding the budget in determining the best way to administrate the country in this Dewan Rakyat sitting.
“It is up to whoever wants to suggest the motion. I don’t think this matter will lead to a win.
“That is why it is better for us to discuss how to ensure the budget can be managed properly and to show the things that should be corrected in the country’s development,” he said to The Rakyat Post.
Previously, Petaling Jaya Selatan MP Hee Loy Sian had suggested the motion privately, without consulting other Opposition members.
The move garnered a negative reaction from DAP, with Lim Guan Eng, the party’s secretary-general asking Hee to revoke the motion.
Opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail then announced that she would submit the motion and insisted she would put the motion forth during this session of the Dewan Rakyat.
When asked on other alternatives apart from the no-confidence motion to oust the Prime Minister, Khalid, who is also Bandar Tun Razak MP, said if the Opposition wanted, they could do it during the tabling of the budget.
Meanwhile on whether or not he would support the Prime Minister’s 2016 Budget, Khalid declined to answer, saying only that he has yet to look at the Budget.
The Prime Minister is expected to table next year’s budget at the Dewan Rakyat this Friday.
