MACC, police must respond to SRC’s denial on ‘donation’ to Najib, says PAS

Tuan-Ibrahim-Tuan-Man

(The Malaysian Insider) – PAS wants the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the police to respond to the statement made by former 1Malaysia Development Berhad’s (1MDB) subsidiary, SRC International Sdn Bhd, which denied allegations that it had transferred money to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s personal account.

The Islamist party’s deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said that the statement by SRC yesterday has led to more questions and speculation, adding that the timing of the statement from the Finance Ministry-owned company was also questionable.

“The main question is from who else did the prime minister receive ‘donation’ into his personal accounts, besides the RM2.6 billion whose ‘donor’ is still a mystery,” said Tuan Ibrahim in a statement.

He said that the statement from SRC yesterday was also curious as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Azalina Othman told Parliament that it was not appropriate for Najib to answer questions on his ‘donation’ from SRC as the matter was still under investigation.

What was even more peculiar was that its statement was in relation to an alleged charge sheet against Najib, which authorities and the government had deemed as false.

“After two and a half months, SRC International has come forward to say it was carrying out internal investigations and claimed that the allegations were false.

“This statement had a weird tone to it, as Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali had only used it one day after the charge sheet was published by Sarawak Report, to deny that it was false,” he said.

At that time, SRC International had remained silent.

“In fact, on August 22, MACC announced its failure to track three individuals Low Taek Jho (better known as Jho Low), Nik Faisal Arif Kamil (SRC International managing director) and Datuk Suboh Md Yasin (SRC International director) to assist in investigations into the RM42 million that was transferred into the personal account of the prime minister.

“Does the statement from SRC mean that Nik Faisal is now prepared to come forward for the investigations?” Tuan Ibrahim asked.
