It’s just a rumour, says Saifuddin on “Rawang Move”

(The Star) – Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah has rubbished talk of the “Rawang Move,” saying that such rumours are normal in politics.

“This is just a rumour. Why people spread it? I do not know. Maybe for some it is good for chitchat,” said Saifuddin when contacted by The Star Online on Saturday.

“Rumours are not uncommon in politics,” added the former Temerloh MP.

Rumours were circulating that the Rawang assembly seat will be vacated to enable a by-election to pave the way for Saifuddin to replace current Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali.

When asked if he is interested to become the state leader, the former deputy minister brushed it aside.

“I am not ambitious. Besides I am from Pahang,” said Saifuddin who joined PKR from Umno on Oct 15.

Earlier today, Wanita PKR chief Zuraida Kamaruddin said that Wanita PKR is certain that Saifuddin did not join PKR to split the party, but to strengthen it instead.

She also said that Rawang MP Gan Pei Nei already rubbished the “Rawang Move” and that the only move in store is the “Pekan Move”.

“All these curiosity about the removal of Azmin Ali was brought about by the sudden joining of a rather reputable Umno member who also happens to be a former member of parliament,” said Zuraida who is also Ampang MP.

She said that this has irritated Umno members and caused them to create gossip to “make themselves feel better.”
