The last major offensive against Najib in another month
So there you have it. In a month from now while ASEAN meets in Kuala Lumpur and when Najib is scheduled to explain the RM2.6 billion to Parliament and as 1MDB prepares its report to the Cabinet and as Umno prepares for its annual general assembly in December, Najib is going to suffer another and most likely final round of attacks.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
There are two major issues they are using against Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak in the attempt to oust him from office. One is 1MDB and the other is the RM2.6 billion issue.
Many may not have noticed that there have not really been any direct allegations supported by tangible evidence. Whatever is being alleged are in the form of innuendoes, suggestions and questions. And the conclusion they draw upon is since this has been suggested and since no answers are forthcoming then this is proof of guilty.
In other words, the absence of evidence of innocence is evidence of the absence of innocence. Does that sound confusing? Actually it is not and it is a centuries old argument used by theists and atheists to debate the existence, or otherwise, of God. If you cannot prove that God does not exist then God must certainly exist, and vice versa.
It is actually a very effective strategy to use in a debate. You shift the onus of disproving the allegation over to the accused rather than the onus being on the accuser to prove the allegation. And that was how Anwar Ibrahim was found guilty of sodomy and was sentenced to nine years in jail (which the Federal Court later overturned).
So, if Najib wants to get through what some would call a political crisis, he has to, as his critics say, reply and provide answers to those two issues — 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion.
According to Najib’s lawyer, Hafarizam Harun, Najib will be doing just that regarding the RM2.6 billion. But he will be delivering his reply and answers to Parliament, probably in a month or so from now.
“I asked for early case management and early hearing date as the PM is due to answer the question on the RM2.6 billion in Parliament and I don’t want the answer in Parliament to have a bearing on the hearing here and vice-versa. Whatever argued here will not be raised in Parliament when the PM answers the question on the RM2.6 billion,” said Hafarizam.
That is in November. In December, 1MDB will have completed its rationalisation and debt reduction exercise and would be delivering the result of this exercise to the Cabinet. After all it was the Cabinet that in June had approved 1MDB’s rationalisation and debt reduction plan and gave the company until the end of the year to deliver the result.
So there you have it. The RM2.6 billion matter will be explained in Parliament and the 1MDB result will be presented to the Cabinet. And then the anti-Najib forces would no longer have any ammunition to use against the Prime Minister.
The anti-Najib forces have met and the conclusion of that meeting is that it is game over. If they want Najib out then it should have been done by July or August. Najib has to be ousted before Parliament starts in October and before the Umno general assembly in December. Once they pass that July-August deadline then it is game over.
However, they still want to attempt a final attack in case something can still be done. Even if they cannot oust Najib at least those attacking him can go down fighting, even if in the end they are still going to get defeated. This must have been exactly what General George Armstrong Custer thought as every last man under his command was cut down in what is now known as ‘Custer’s Last Stand’.
So one of the six Tan Sris I spoke about in an earlier article is currently in London. He is just a carrier pigeon bringing a message to their London team that in a month from now another round of attacks is going to be launched and for the London team to get ready with the ammunition.
The ammunition, no doubt, will be supplied by another two Tan Sris — both heads of very important government agencies and who are openly working against Najib. You can probably guess who these people are because they have not made their opposition to Najib a secret. In fact, these two Tan Sris have been promised Cabinet posts in the event they successfully topple Najib.
A fourth Tan Sri was approached by the first Tan Sri just before he left for London and was told that he had better join the anti-Najib team because if he does not and if Najib is toppled then they would make sure he goes to jail for various crimes and transgressions.
The fifth and sixth Tan Sris are now, of course, out of the government although one of them is still screaming about how he was the one who made Najib the Prime Minister.
As they say, in politics there are no sides, only players. And if you want to know who all these players mentioned above are then read my earlier article, Kit Siang confirms the conspiracy and names the conspirators, where Kit Siang had named names.
