Razaleigh not behind plot to oust Najib, RPK claims
But will anti-Najib forces plan one final push next month?
(Free Malaysia Today) – Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah was never part of any plot to remove Prime Minister Najib Razak from office, political blogger Raja Petra Kamarrudin (RPK) claims.
“Tengku Razaleigh is not even a party vice-president,” RPK writes. “He knows that they are using him to try to oust Najib just like they used him in 2008 when they wanted to oust Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi with promises that once Abdullah resigns then he would take over as Prime Minister.”
It did not happen in 2009, and it is unlikely to happen now, RPK suggests, simply because Umno will not allow it at the expense of current Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
“[F]or every vote that Tengku Razaleigh can garner Zahid would be able to get ten votes to match that,” RPK claims.
“So who do you think Umno would choose as the new Prime Minister if Dr Mahathir ousts Najib,” he asks. “Even Tengku Razaleigh will admit it will not be him.”
So why would Tengku Razaleigh help Dr Mahathir oust Najib, RPK asks rhetorically.
