PAC man slams Pua over debate dare
Liang Teck Meng agrees with 1MDB’s Arul that Pua must first quit the PAC
(Free Malaysia Today) – A member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) today criticised fellow member Tony Pua for challenging 1MDB chief Arul Kanda Kandasamy to a live debate on TV while refusing to quit the committee.
Simpang Renggam MP Liang Teck Meng, who is an MCA member, said he agreed with Arul Kanda that Pua must quit the PAC before engaging in a public debate with the 1MDB President.
“My view is that if Tony wants to have a live debate on TV, then he should respect the parliamentary institution,” said Liang.
“He must remember that he is a member of the PAC, which is currently investigating 1MDB and will be determining if there is any wrongdoing.
“Holding a live no-holds barred TV debate with one of the subjects of the parliamentary inquiry is an insult to Parliament. No respectable parliament in the world would allow this.”
