(Malay Mail Online) – Selangor Mentri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali appeared on the brink of tears today as he delivered the 2016 Budget for Selangor in the state legislative assembly here.

The first-term mentri besar became emotional as he recalled the good and bad times from his maiden year in office, particularly when recounting the criticism he faced, before vowing to soldier on and disregard his naysayers.

“Let those who are jealous and intend to sully the harmony be damned.

“One thing that makes me happy is when I get to solve the problems afflicting the people and be able to see their happy faces.

“I have a moral obligation to safeguard the unity of the people… there are many more out there who need the attention and protection,” Azmin said, calling all in Selangor to be united.

Several Umno blogs recently claimed of a purported “Rawang Move” to oust Azmin and replace him with former Umno deputy minister and new PKR recruit Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.

Saifuddin, a former Termerloh MP and Umno Supreme Council member joined PKR on October 15, citing  his divergent reform views with the Umno and ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership as one of the main reasons for quitting the Malay party for PKR and the opposition Pakatan Harapan pact.

The “Rawang Move” borrows its name from the “Kajang Move” that was launched to force Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim from office.

PKR leaders later rejected the claim and insisted that there is no attempt to oust Azmin.
