(Malay Mail Online) – The DAP announced today that it has printed 100,000 copies of the statement by the Conference of Malay Rulers on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) controversy, and that it plans to distribute these to the rural Malay areas.

In a statement on the campaign, Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching (pic) claimed that the October 6 statement had received insufficient coverage, especially in the Malay media.

“The Conference of Rulers demanded a thorough investigation. But as at today, the police has failed to record a statement from our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, whose approval is needed for all financial deals of 1MDB,” she said in a statement.

“It looks like the statement has fallen on deaf ears. As such, for the first phase, DAP has printed 100,000 copies of the Conference of Rulers’ statement in BM (Bahasa Malaysia), mainly to be distributed in rural Malay areas, so that the  rakyat of Malaysia can get a clearer picture on what’s happening in our country.”

In a statement issued by the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal, Datuk Seri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, the Malay Rulers said that investigations into 1MDB must be made public in order to show that nothing was being hidden in the probe on the state-owned investment firm.

Improper handling of the 1MDB controversy and related investigations could also affect the economy and even threaten national security, the rulers said.
