‘I told them to make it multi-racial, so the government cannot label them as racist’

(Free Malaysia Today) – Mahathir Mohamad said today he had sought the help of the G25 group of retired civil servants to be the face of a Chinese group who wanted to protest against Najib Razak’s government

He dismissed G25 member Tawfik Ismail’s claim that he and former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin had sought to enlist G25 in their campaign against Najib.

Speaking at a press conference today, Mahathir said he had met the G25 group for a second time to ask them to be the face of the Chinese group so that they would not be labelled as being racist in trying to bring down a Malay government.

“But then this chap Tawfik comes along and of course he has nothing good to say about me so he tells people all kinds of nonsense,” he said.

Dr Mahathir said he had told the G25 members “to make it multi-racial, bring in the Indians and bring in the Malays so the government would not be able to label them as being racist, as G25 was seen to be a group of rational people.
