Accept fact you’re just normal prisoner, Utusan tells Anwar
(The Malaysian Insider) – Utusan Malaysia today reminded jailed PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to accept being a “normal prisoner” and stop demanding for special treatments, such as medical care overseas.
Awang Selamat, the pseudonym for the daily’s weekend edition Mingguan Malaysia collective editorial team, said Anwar’s surgery could be carried out by Malaysian experts and was not a complex one, adding that Anwar was underestimating local expertise.
“He should learn to accept his fate. A prisoner is a prisoner. He has no right to demand special treatment, because that will only increase his humiliation in the eyes of the public,” Awang said.
“Go through jail time like others and repent.
“As a leader, he should set an example by trusting the abilities of locals in the (medical) sector.”
The column also questioned Anwar’s “anxiousness” in calling for foreign interference for his personal and political agenda.
