Minister: ‘Irresponsible’ if Nurul Izzah link with ex-Sulu Sultan’s daughter hurts Malaysia’s sovereignty
(19 November 2015) – Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein today said it would be “irresponsible” of PKR MP Nurul Izzah Anwar if her pictured association with the daughter of the late Jamalul Kiram III, whose forces invaded Sabah in 2013, affected Malaysia’s sovereignty.

(19 November 2015) – PKR MP Nurul Izzah Anwar is being assailed online following the dissemination of pictures showing her together with Jacel Kiram, the daughter of the Sulu “Sultan” behind the 2013 invasion of Lahad Datu in Sabah.
On one blog questioning her association with the daughter of the late self-proclaimed Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III, the writer noted that Jacel had acted as her father’s spokesman during the invasion to reclaim Sabah for himself.
DAP MP: Nothing wrong with Nurul Izzah building relationship with ex-Sulu Sultan’s daughter
(19 November 2015) – A DAP lawmaker today defended Nurul Izzah Anwar after the PKR MP was photographed with the daughter of the late Jamalul Kiram III, saying he saw nothing wrong with anyone building a relationship with the former Sulu Sultan’s kin.
Sandakan MP Stephen Wong said although he acknowledges that emotions were still raw over the bloody Lahad Datu incursion led by Jamalul in 2013, no one should blame the latter’s daughter Jacel Kiram for her father’s actions.
Misuari visits Sulu sultan
(6 March 2013) – Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) founding chairman Nur Misuari yesterday volunteered to serve as emissary to Kuala Lumpur and help in talks to resolve the violence in Sabah peacefully. Misuari visited Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III at his house in Maharlika Village, Taguig City yesterday.
The MNLF chief told reporters that he is willing to sit down with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak to help end the crisis in Sabah. “For the sake of peace, and to save the lives of the young Muslims who had joined the Sabah incursion as well as of the Malaysian soldiers, Muslims should not be fighting,” he said. “If there is a need for me to visit Kuala Lumpur and possibly iron out differences between the Bangsamoro nation and the Malaysian people, I am willing to do that at my own expense.”

(24 March 2013) – On 16th July 2012, Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim flew to Jakarta to meet Nur Misuari — who is very close to Anwar since the days when Anwar was in the government — and the military commanders of the MNLF. The meeting was held in the Crowne Plaza Jakarta hotel and was arranged by an Indonesian Member of Parliament — another close friend of Anwar — at the behest of Anwar. A second meeting was held in Manila on 4th August 2012 to finalise and seal the agreement.
‘Anwar sought Misuari’s help to win GE’
(25 March 2013) – Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim sought the help of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) founder Nur Misuari to win the general election, alleged blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin.
In his latest post titled ‘The Untold Story of the Lahad Datu Incident’, Raja Petra claimed that Anwar had met Nur Misuari and his top military commanders on July 16, 2012 in Indonesia.
He also said that Anwar had good ties with Nur Misuari for a long time, since the former’s tenure in the government.
The meeting, Raja Petra added, took place at the Crowne Plaza Jakarta Hotel and was arranged by an Indonesian MP close to Anwar.
The blogger alleged that Anwar had sought Nur Misuari’s help to win at least 30 out of the 57 East Malaysian parliamentary seats to wrest federal power from Barisan Nasional (BN).
