Amanah says ready for Sarawak polls, has ‘more than enough’ candidates

(Malay Mail Online) – Parti Amanah Negara has ample local candidates with which to contest the Sarawak state election due next year, the PAS offshoot party’s secretary-general Mohd Anuar Mohd Tahir said today.

Mohd Anuar said Amanah has already registered its party logo with the Election Commission and submitted all the necessary documents as legally required, noting that the fledgling party will be able to fly its own flag when joining in any polls.

“If Pakatan Harapan gives room for Parti Amanah to join the Sarawak state elections, we are humbly ready to participate in that election,” he told reporters at the party headquarters here.

“For us, candidates are not a problem. We have more than enough in Sarawak whom we can pick, those who match the heart and tastes of the Sarawakians,” he said.

Expressing Amanah’s respect for Sarawak as a key component in the formation of Malaysia, Mohd Anuar also said the local leaders there will be consulted on the best candidates for elections.

“Not to say that autonomy is given completely to Amanah Sarawak, but for those in Amanah Sarawak or Amanah Sabah, we give a wide freedom in determining matters such as deciding on candidates.

“We will seek their advice and views. When we decide, the candidates will be our candidates from Sabah and Sarawak,” he said.

As a young party launched only over two months ago, Amanah had kicked off its nationwide tour on October 29 in Sarawak to introduce itself to voters.
