(Malay Mail Online) – Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar today urged the brother of Anthony Kevin Morais to surrender details of the purported case the late deputy public prosecutor (DPP) had been working on before he was murdered.

The national police chief also reportedly told Malaysiakini that Charles Suresh would likely have to be called up to have his statement taken.

“Yes, looks like we have to call him up,” Khalid was quoted saying.

“I suggest he share the contents with us for action to be taken.

“We can’t act if we have no knowledge about the late Kevin’s secrets,” he added, according to Malaysiakini.

Earlier in the evening, Charles Suresh held a press conference to explain the contents of a statutory declaration (SD) he had signed today on the events surrounding his brother’s recent murder.

In the SD, the businessman claimed that prior to Kevin’s murder over two months ago, the latter had sent him a pen drive for safekeeping. The pen drive, Charles Suresh explained, contained details of the investigations that his brother had been involved in before his untimely death.

These investigations, he added, implicates certain powerful personalities.

He added that Kevin’s last call to him was about a week before he went missing in September, during which the latter “sounded very depressed” and informed him to watch out for “something” that would be couriered over to him for safekeeping.

Charles Suresh, who claimed that he kept close relations and was constantly in touch with Kevin, also said that his brother had claimed that his phone was tapped.

He said the pen drive is currently in safe custody in the US with “someone who has instructions to release it publicly should anything untoward happen to me for swearing this statutory declaration”.

He did not, however, elaborate on the contents of the pen drive but merely said in the SD that Kevin had informed him prior to his death that he was working on a case involving some powerful individuals.

Charles Suresh also said he believes there may be a plot against his brother and that the latter’s death was linked to his work involving “high ranking” government officials, although he declined to name those he suspected were involved.

He said that his brother was likely killed “due to the fact that he knew too much about the criminal acts of those high up in the echelons of power in Malaysia and he needed to be silenced because of that”.

Kevin’s body was found hidden in a cement-filled oil drum in Subang Jaya 13 days after he was abducted en route to his Putrajaya office from his Segambut home on September 4.
