Probe into Nurul Izzah’s meeting with Jacel to be submitted to A-G’s Chambers soon – IGP
(Bernama) – Probe into PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar’s meeting with Princess Jacel H.Kiram, the daughter of self-styled Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III, who ordered the intrusion of Lahad Datu, Sabah, in 2013, will be submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (A-G) soon.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police had recorded statements from Nurul Izzah and the report would be submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers after recording a statement from Batu MP Tian Chua.
“In one or two-days we’ll call Tian Chua to record his statement… after that police will leave it to the A-G,” he said after pinning ranks on 21 senior police officers here, Monday.
Nurul Izzah in an earlier statement had admitted she met Jacel on Nov 9, while in the Philippines with Tian Chua, as part of a PKR delegation to meet various stakeholders of the country.
She was reported to have apologised after a picture of her meeting Jacel in the Philippines, uploaded on Facebook, received heavy criticism, while yesterday, Tian Chua also denied he was responsible for masterminding the meeting.
In another development, Khalid said lawyer Americk Sidhu had notified his willingness to cooperate with police in relation to statements made by his client, Charles Suresh Morais.
Charles, brother of the late deputy public prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais, was recently reported by news portal Malaysiakini to have claimed his brother’s murder was linked to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
Khalid said Americk was expected to give his statement either today or tomorrow.
“We had to call him because we want to know what discussions he had with Charles …as the accusation is a serious one,” he said.
On Thursday, Charles went abroad after making various allegations concerning his brother’s death.
