1MDB issue being resolved, questions over RM2.6b already answered, says Najib

(The Rakyat Post) – Issues plaguing national sovereign fund 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) is being handled and is in the process of being resolved, assured Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Announcing that 1MDB’s debts has been reduced by RM17 billion following the sale of its subsidiary Edra Global Energy Bhd, Najib said that this proved that the rationalisation plan is going well.

“God willing, this will be followed by more announcements that will convince the people of a good conclusion,” he said during his policy speech at the 69th Umno general assembly here today.

Addressing the issue in the presence of 2,654 delegates from 191 divisions in the country, Najib said the issue involving the RM2.6 billion political donation had already been answered in Parliament.

“The matter was answered in Parliament by the Deputy Prime Minister, that the money was a donation from overseas and not from 1MDB.

“I’ve also explained to this to the delegates during the presidential address,” he stressed to the applause and support by the majority of the crowd..

He added that what was important now was that he was being truthful and that the truth will eventually prevail.
