S’gor Ruler to bestow awards on 75

(The Star) – Seventy-five people will receive various state awards in conjunction with Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s 70th birthday today.

Heading the list is Tengku Syarif Panglima Perlis Tan Sri Syed Anwar Jamalullail, who will receive the Darjah Kerabat Selangor Yang Amat Dihormati (DK II).

Syed Anwar, the younger brother of the Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail, is the Selangor Zakat Board chairman.

He is also the chairman of DRB-Hicom Berhad, EON Capital Berhad and Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad as well as a director of Nestle (M) Berhad.

Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali (pic) is the sole recipient of the Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor (SPMS), which carries the title Datuk Seri.

Azmin, 51, became Selangor’s 15th mentri besar on Sept 23 last year.

He is also PKR deputy president as well as Gombak MP and Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman.

Three people will receive the Dato Setia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (SSIS), which carries the title Datuk Setia.

They are member of Selangor royalty Tengku Datuk Paduka Putra Alhaj Tengku Azman Shah Alhaj, Appeals Court judge Justice Datuk Mohd Zawawi Salleh and Selangor state secretary Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi.

Eight people will receive the Dato Paduka Mahkota Selangor (DPMS), which carries the title Datuk.

Among the recipients are CIMB Group Holdings Berhad chairman Datuk Seri Nazir Razak, Selangor Health Department director Dr S. Balachandran, Selangor Syariah Court chief judge Dr Mohd Naim Mokhtar, Selangor legal adviser Datuk Nik Shuhaimi Nik Sulaiman and Sepang Municipal Council pre­sident Puasa Md Taib.

Former MCA president Tun Tan Siew Sin’s daughter Tan Siok Choo is one of 10 people who will receive the Dato Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (DSIS), which carries the title Datuk for men and Datin Paduka for women.

Others receiving the DSIS are Selangor Audit Department director Ang Nai Har, Universiti Putra Malaysia Health Science Faculty dean Prof Dr Abdul Jalil Nordin and Kumpulan Prasarana Malaysia Berhad managing director Datuk Azmi Abdul Aziz.

Six people will receive the Setia Mahkota Selangor (SMS), eight people the Setia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (SIS), 15 people the Ahli Mahkota Selangor (AMS), 16 people the Ahli Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (AIS) and seven people the Bintang Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (BPC).

The awards ceremony will be held at the Istana Alam Shah in Klang tomorrow.
