PAS ready to forgive and forget Umno’s mistakes, says sec-gen
(The Malaysian Insider) – PAS is ready to forgive and forget Umno’s past mistakes as it is part of the Islamist party’s struggle, says PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan.
Speaking to reporters after attending the 6th Perkasa general assembly in Kuala Lumpur today, Takiyuddin said forgiving and forgetting past mistakes were practices upheld by the party.
“Those are the main criteria of our mission. It is not something new. Many leaders who join PAS are in good positions, open-heartedly accepted by members, and now, between the two parties, we will do the same.”
The Kota Baru MP also said PAS was in the midst of explaining the Umno-PAS collaboration to its members.
“We are in the process of giving a thorough explanation to our members towards that intention,” he said, adding that as the collaboration was still new, efforts to give a clear picture were still underway.
“The main thing in PAS is that, whatever is raised by the president, has to be a decision collective in the interests of the party,” he said referring to party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.
