Gerakan says it has evidence to prove Guan Eng lied
Penang Gerakan says Lim Guan Eng kept land reclamation project under wraps for two years before announcing it publicly
(Free Malaysia Today) – Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s claim that the 25-acre land reclamation project at Bayan Bay was only approved in 2015 instead of in 2013 is yet another attempt to conceal the real facts of the case.
Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Teng Chang Yeow said he now had evidence to prove the state government approved the project in 2013 and kept it a secret for two years and three months before publicly announcing it at the state assembly in November this year.
“That is a fact. This fact is supported by documents that were sent to us (BN). The Chief Minister’s denial confirmed he lie to cover up.
“The lies and falsehoods created by the DAP-led government to fool the people of Penang are getting (more) serious each day,” he said in a statement today.
Lim previously said checks with the state secretary had confirmed the project was approved this year and not in 2013 as claimed by Teng.
Teng also hoped that Lim would not fault the state secretary and the secretariat officers for the mistake they had made.
The Penang Gerakan chairman reiterated that approval for the land reclamation was granted by the state planning committee (SPC) chaired by Lim on August 29, 2013 and the minutes of the meeting confirmed it on October 3, 2013.
