DAP assemblyman gives 48 hours to social media page to retract false allegations
(The Sun Daily) – A DAP assemblyman has given 48 hours to a social media page to apologise and retract statements on alleged funds received by him for a development project.
Pengkalan Kota elected representative Lau Keng Ee denied such allegations posted in Mandarin and said they were baseless and uncalled for.
He denied of ever receiving RM200,000 funds and instead challenged the page administrator (penangheadline.com) to lodge a report with Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should they have evidence.
“Failing to do so, I will take legal action in court,” he told a press conference accompanied by legal counsel RSN Rayer (pic).
He said he came across the post defaming him at the page about afternoon yesterday.
The two-term assemblyman in the Tanjong parliamentary constituency has been in the limelight recently as he had been allegedly harrassed by debt collectors for debts totalling RM200,000.
A police report has since been lodged by him for safety reasons.
Lau has since vehemently denied the allegations and said he was not involved in it.
Rayer said it was a serious allegation against his comrade and a letter will be written to Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to find out operators of the page.
” I am challenging them to provide proof,” he added.
