Prove it, Kit Siang tells PAS, pro-BN NGOs after Israeli naval base offer claim
(Malay Mail Online) – Opposition lawmaker Lim Kit Siang challenged today PAS’ Research Centre director and the head of the pro-Barisan Nasional NGOs Coalition to back their claim DAP had been offered money in return for an Israeli naval base in Malaysia if it captured Putrajaya.
The Gelang Patah claimed the duo were recycling “wild allegations”, adding that PAS had never raised the issue even once when it was with the DAP in the same political alliance for eight years, till their break-up last year.
“Was there any basis in the wild allegations first made some four years ago by a ‘man of straw’ and most insubstantial character?
“Let the PAS Research Centre director and the Pro-BN NGOs Alliance president prove their case or be exposed and condemned for the fools they have made of themselves,” the DAP parliamentary leader said in a statement.
DAP has already denied Mohd Zuhdi’s claim, with party organising secretary Anthony Loke calling it “ridiculous”, and has promised to sue the PAS man for alleged defamation.
Lim also asked the pro-Barisan Nasional NGOs Coalition president Zulkarnain Mahdar if he was suggesting that Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar be disciplined for negligence by failing to act on the alleged DAP-Israeli military offer claim.
“Have the police failed in its professional duty to protect the security interests of Malaysia, in particular with reference with the wild allegation that Israel had offered RM1.2 billion in exchange for an Israel naval base in Port Dickson?” he asked.
Malaysia and Israel have no diplomatic ties as Malaysia has declared its opposition to the Zionist regime that has denied sovereignty to Palestine in the decades-long Middle Eastern conflict.
Lim said that though he had many differences of opinions with the police previously, he said they had been “very professional” in carrying out their duty to protect the country’s security.
The pro-BN NGOs chief had urged the police to investigate PAS Research Centre director Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki’s claim that the DAP was offered RM1.2 billion by Israel if it had won the elections, and in exchange, would enable the Zionist regime to build a naval base in Negri Sembilan.
Mohd Zuhdi is best known for his purported role in urging PAS to leave Pakatan Rakyat, after a leaked screenshot of a conversation on WhatsApp last year revealed that he along with several other PAS leaders had actively discussed a possible union with Umno.
