PAS: DAP should give up its council seats to Amanah
(Free Malaysia Today) – A PAS assemblyman has told DAP to make way for Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) and give the new party its quota of council seats in Selangor, reported Sinar Harian today.
Commenting on the call by Selangor Menteri Besar, Azmin Ali that all parties accommodate Amanah in respect to local councillor posts, Meru assemblyman Dr Abd Rani Osman said it was only right that DAP sacrificed its quota as it had a good working relationship with Amanah.
This he said would demonstrate that cooperation between the various parties was flourishing within Pakatan Harapan.
He also argued that PAS would not give up its quota as the Islamist party had nothing whatsoever to do with Amanah.
He said PAS would only make way for Amanah, a party made up of former PAS lawmakers and dissidents, if they were instructed by their party’s leadership to do so in the future.
Meanwhile, Selat Klang assemblyman, Dr Halimah Ali said she supported the stand of Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad, that the party not surrender its quota to Amanah.
It was reported earlier that Selangor Amanah chairman Izham Hashim said the party hoped to have at least two representatives in each of Selangor’s 12 local councils.
