How much did Najib pay Syed Ali?
Many have forgotten that when Dr Mahathir launched his attack on the then Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in 2006 the damage to Barisan Nasional in the 2008 general election was very severe. And Barisan Nasional has never been able to recover since then, right through to the 2013 general election and beyond.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
They say that anyone who opposes the ANC (no, not the African National Congress but the Anti-Najib Campaign) has been bought. Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak must have paid them something from the RM2.6 billion ‘war chest’ that he set up from the donation he received from the Middle East.
Well, at least they now admit that the RM2.6 billion was a donation from the Middle East and not money stolen from 1MDB — and that the purpose of this RM2.6 billion was to set up a war chest. And it is a war chest not only to finance the last general election in 2013 but also for other political activities.
Now, of course, they are demanding to know how the money was spent. Does anyone ask Pakatan how it spent the RM1 billion in the Penang war chest or the RM1.5 billion in the Selangor war chest? How about how Bersih spent the millions that it collected from members of the public?
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad also said that ‘cash is king’ and that Najib spent billions to buy off people and that nearly all the 191 Umno division chiefs have been bought off. Does this include Syed Ali Alhabshee who is the Cheras Umno division chief? Was he bought off as well?
And if he was bought off how much would someone like Syed Ali cost? A wealthy person like Syed Ali would not settle for a mere RM10 million, which is ‘peanuts’ to a person like him. It would cost at least RM50 million or RM100 million if you wanted to buy him off.
To the ANC, if you do not support the move to oust Najib then it can only mean one thing: Najib bought you off. There can be no other explanation. It never occurred to them that you oppose the ANC not because of money but because attacking Najib would mean you are also hurting Umno and this can only benefit the DAP-led opposition coalition.
This is the second round of attacks on a second Prime Minister and this time many predict that Barisan Nasional is going to get wiped out in the next general election if they are not careful. And this would mean the end of Umno as well considering that Barisan Nasional is an Umno-led coalition.
Syed Ali in the Malaysiakini news report below warns the Malays to not become Si Kitol of DAP. Does this include Si Kitol Muhyiddin Yassin and Dr Mahathir a.k.a. M42?
No, I doubt that Syed Ali has turned because Najib bought him off. Najib does not need to buy him off although everyone knows he is a supporter of Muhyiddin Yassin. And that is because all Najib needs to do is to neutralise Muhyiddin and Dr Mahathir and all their supporters would change sides, just like what Syed Ali is doing.
But Syed Ali is clever. He does not immediately declare that he supports Najib. He first tells the Malays to be careful about becoming DAP’s Si Kitol. If not then the Malays would lose political power to the DAP-led Pakatan Harapan. Later, in stage two, he will tell the Malays to be careful about bringing down Najib because this will hurt Umno and this may result in the DAP-led coalition taking over the federal government.
So it would not be seen as if he has turned. He is just concerned about the Malays losing political power to the Chinese.
When Syed Ali joined the ANC he never took this point into consideration. He never considered that ousting the Prime Minister would hurt Umno and Barisan Nasional. Now that the ANC has lost and Najib is still in office, and will continue to be in office right up to the next general election in 2018, Syed Ali is having a change of heart.
This is not about the Malays at all. This is about changing positions and abandoning the losing side to be with the winning side. What a typical fooking Arab mentality. They would even work with Israel and the West against fellow Muslims if they can make more money that way.
Well, the many Chinese, Indian and Malay business tycoons are also bailing out, like Syed Ali is. In 2014, these crony-capitalists — who made billions when Dr Mahathir was Prime Minister — all got together to set up a RM2 billion-ANC war chest to match Najib’s RM2.6 billion-war chest.
After spending whatever they spent from that RM2 billion over the one year of 2015, they now realise that the fight is over. People like Vincent Tan are in Singapore trying to sell off his assets. Others of his ilk are trying to do the same thing.
They realise that the doors to Putrajaya are closed to them forever. All Najib has to do is to jam everything they are trying to do. And that is being done even as you read this. In time they are going to lose everything they made during the 22 years that Dr Mahathir was Prime Minister. So they are bailing out by selling as much as they can while whatever they have still has some value.
Yes, as much as Francis Yeoh may deny it, in Malaysia you cannot do big business to the tune of billions if you are on the wrong side of Putrajaya — unless you want to only set up a kopitiam. And once you are on the ‘wrong’ side it is very difficult to return to the ‘right’ side. Syed Ali, however, wants to see whether he can be ‘the exception to the rule’. But then that is how Arabs do business, as the affairs in the Middle East have proven.
Good luck to him. I, however, would suggest he baca talkin (the death prayer).

You’ll only be cheerleaders in DAP, Umno man warns Malays
(Malaysiakini) – An Umno leader has cautioned Malays not to be blinded by political ambition and fall prey to overtures from DAP.
Syed Ali Alhabshee claimed DAP’s plan to field Malay candidates in several parliamentary seats in the next general election is nothing more than a smokescreen for its “racism”.
The Cheras Umno division chief said the majority of DAP’s top leaders are Chinese while the Malays are reduced to mere “cheerleaders”.
“I hope no Malay leader who is crazy about becoming a YB (elected representative) falls into the trap and is used by DAP to divide the Malays,” he added in a blog posting.
Syed Ali said DAP is now more aggressive in recruiting Malay candidates who are willing to be “obedient sidekicks” after its political relationship with PAS came to an end.
In the previous elections, he said, DAP managed to secure Malay votes because of its cooperation with the Islamic party.
Without mincing words, the vocal Umno man also criticised Malays who joined DAP, accusing them of “selling themselves and the pride of their race” for political rewards.
Recently, a study discovered that the demonisation campaign by Umno and the harsh criticism from PAS have caused Malays in rural areas to feel anger and distrust towards DAP.
DAP is often accused of attempting to undermine the position of the Malays and Islam in Malaysia, a charge which its leaders reject.
‘PKR only struggles for Anwar’
Responding to the study, DAP veteran leader Lim Kit Siang said it is a cause for concern.
“For DAP was never formed to be a party for the Chinese or any particular community but for all Malaysians, regardless of race, religion or region – and it is totally anathema in DAP for anyone to be anti-Islam or any other religion,” Lim said.
Meanwhile, Syed Ali also took a swipe at PKR, dismissing its slogan of ‘ranapkan (demolish) Umno’ as nothing more than a political gimmick.
He claimed that PKR’s true struggle is for the political interests of former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who is serving a five-year prison term for sodomy.
“PKR is vocal about some issues, not because of wanting to champion the people but merely to trumpet slander to attract attention,” Syed Ali said.
