Give half of your seats to Amanah, PKR man tells DAP

Youth wing secretary says that doing so will change DAP’s anti-Malay’ perception.

(FMT) – DAP should give half their seats to Amanah, says PKR Youth secretary Chang Lih Kang.

He suggested this as DAP is struggling to lose its “Chinese majority” label.

“This will help Amanah obtain a certain number of winnable seats while DAP can achieve its transformation of becoming multi-racial.

“Let go of half your seats (to Amanah) and capture the new frontiers,” Chang told Malaysiakini yesterday.

“If the direction is right, we could reach the target. Amanah could win in DAP-based seats if DAP lends support.”

According to the Teja assemblyperson, the root cause of the Malay distrust against DAP was due to the party being politically active in Chinese majority areas.

“If DAP only increases its Malay membership but still contests in Chinese majority areas, the transformation promise will be of token value only and will not help in creating a true multiracial DAP,” he said.

According to the portal, DAP Youth wing leaders responded to Chang’s suggestions and said that the latter should first kick out PAS from the Selangor state administration.

DAP Youth political education director Chiong Yoke Kong suggested that PKR first suspend all PAS representatives in Selangor and give way to new ally Amanah.
