Is the MACC being blackmailed?
Whatever it may be, something is very wrong here. They are asking the MACC to investigate matters that have already been explained while ignoring matters such as the wealth of Mukhriz and his brothers where no explanation has been given yet.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
I once had dinner with Tan Sri Mohammad Noah Omar and his second wife, Maimum, at the Equatorial Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. That was about 35 years or so ago and at that time Noah was the Chairman of Genting.
Noah was Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong’s business partner and they formed a company called Genting Highlands Berhad on 27th April 1965. In 1970, Noah was appointed a director of MUI Group and then he became the Chairman of the Group in 1980.
In that sense I knew Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s grandfather long before I knew Najib — and might I add that we (or rather our company) paid for dinner and not Noah. So I already belanja makan Najib’s grandfather almost 30 years before Najib became Prime Minister.
And considering my age plus the fact that I was his grandfather’s friend, Najib should actually call me Abang Petra, notwithstanding the fact that he is Prime Minister. After all, the late Agong used to call my father Abang Din even though he was the Agong and my father was not even a Sultan.
Anyway, Noah was a descendant of Raja Chempa, the Bugis ruler of Padang in the 1600s, while my family’s lineage is from another Bugis family, Daeng Chelak Daeng Rilaga of Riau, of almost the same era. So that makes both our families very rich and powerful Rulers of the region long before the British, Chinese or Indians landed on Malaya’s shores.
Now, Mukhriz Mahathir’s grandfather, however, was just an English language teacher in a small backward town called Alor Setar. And Mukhriz plus his other brothers are children of a public servant. So, while Najib can explain his wealth, how do Mukhriz and his brothers explain theirs?
According to the rules determined by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Najib has to explain where his money came from. And if he cannot do that then we have to assume that Najib stole the money. And unless Najib can prove he did not steal the money then we must assume he is guilty.
Well and fine. Using these same standards then Mukhriz and his brothers need to also explain where their money came from. And if they cannot do that then we have to assume that they stole the money. And unless they can prove they did not steal the money then we must assume they are guilty.
I mean compare Najib’s grandfather to Mukhriz’s grandfather and you can see that while Najib was born into wealth Mukhriz and his brothers were not. So where did their billions come from? And we are not talking about just one brother but all three brothers.
And much of these billions are hidden so we do not really know how much it all comes to in the end. But I will not be surprised if we combine all their wealth and they would no longer be the third richest but the richest in Malaysia.
Now, what is even more puzzling is that all this is well known. This is not a secret. Every man and his dog can tell you about the wealth of Mukhriz and his brothers. So why is the MACC not doing anything about it?
They talk about 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion and all the other issues. And even after an explanation is given they still rant, rave, and foam at the mouth like mad dogs. Then we have this huge lump of shit sitting right on top of their table and they cannot even smell it.
What is wrong with the MACC? Are they just plain stupid or are they being blackmailed? And if they are being blackmailed who is blackmailing them and what are they being blackmailed with?
Yes, I doubt they are dumb even though the DAP Chinese would say since the MACC officers are Malays then they are automatically stupid. I mean I am Malay and yet I am smarter than most DAP Chinese who blame PAS for the breakup of Pakatan Rakyat when it was actually because of the Kajang Move and the attempt to make Anwar Ibrahim the Selangor Menteri Besar hoping that he would not be sent to jail for sodomy.
Whatever it may be, something is very wrong here. They are asking the MACC to investigate matters that have already been explained while ignoring matters such as the wealth of Mukhriz and his brothers where no explanation has been given yet.
And since the Malaysian Standards are: if you cannot explain where your money came from and if you cannot prove you did not steal the money then we have to assume you are a thief — this will be how we have to conclude this whole thing.
