PAS welcomes Amanah’s plan to contest all PAS seats, says Takiyuddin
(Bernama) – PAS has welcomed Parti Amanah Negara’s (Amanah) plan to contest all PAS parliamentary and state seats in the coming general election.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said PAS had nothing to do with the formation of Amanah, even though most of the new party’s leaders and members comprised former PAS members.
“It (Amanah) has nothing to do with us and the party does not even need to consult us,” he told reporters after attending a Chinese New Year open house here today, organised by Kelantan Tionghua Association honourary president Datuk Chan Chia Ling.
Also attending the event was Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob. Earlier, Selangor Amanah chairman Izham Hashim was reported as saying the party would contest all PAS seats in the next general election. Takiyuddin, who is also Kota Baru member of parliament believed that Amanah‘s plan to field its candidates would not affect votes received by PAS previously.
He nevertheless, expressed confidence that more Amanah members would rejoin PAS.
